Short answer

As of November 2026, the most generous free AI video tiers are Google Flow (50 credits a day, enough for a few Veo 3.1 Lite clips) and Dreamina (daily credits, 120 a day in August 2026). Runway gives 125 credits once, with a watermark. Kling's free plan has no monthly credits and its output is not for commercial use. Pika's free plan includes no credits, and Luma lists no free plan. Free tiers change often, so check each pricing page before you start.

"Free" means very different things across AI video platforms. Some give you a daily allowance, some a one-time trial, some an account with no credits at all, and most put limits on watermarks or commercial use. This guide sets out what each free tier gives as of November 2026, based on each company's own pricing and help pages. These change often, sometimes monthly, so treat this as a starting point and check before you plan a project around a free tier.

The free tiers in detail

Google Flow

Everyone gets 50 Flow credits a day, with or without a subscription, and unused credits don't roll over. What that buys depends on the model: Veo 3.1 Lite costs 10 credits a clip for non-Ultra accounts and Veo 3.1 Fast 20, so a free day covers about five Lite clips or two Fast ones. Veo 3.1 Quality costs 100 credits, more than a free day. Gemini Omni Flash clips cost from 4 credits (a 4 second 360p draft) to 15 (10 seconds at 720p), and Omni video edits cost 40; check in the app whether your account can use Omni Flash, since Google has rolled it out to its paid AI plans. Even on Veo 3.1 Lite alone, Flow is the best free option for testing video with sound. Paid Google AI plans add a monthly pool on top.

Dreamina

Dreamina, ByteDance's creative app, gives daily free credits; its own guide cited 120 a day in August 2026 and tells you to confirm the current amount in your account. The free allowance does not cover the whole model catalogue, and Dreamina says a free generation doesn't guarantee a watermark-free download or a particular resolution. Paid membership is the route to exports without visible branding. Our Dreamina guide covers the app.

Runway

Runway's free plan is a one-time 125 credits, and you can't buy more without upgrading. Free videos carry a watermark, which goes from the Standard plan up. Treat it as a trial, not a working tier. Aleph 2.0 editing in Edit Studio is available on paid plans only.

Kling

Kling lists its Basic plan as free forever but with no monthly credits, and its own credit guide says Basic output is not for commercial use. Watermark removal is listed as a paid-plan benefit. Kling has given credits to new and returning users at times, so you may still be able to try it, but don't count on a regular free allowance.

Pika

Pika's free plan now gives access to all models with no watermark, but no monthly credits: you buy credit packs to generate. Commercial use is not included on the free plan. The cheapest subscription is Starter.

Luma

Luma's pricing page lists no free plan. The cheapest plan, Plus, includes commercial use. If an older guide tells you Luma Dream Machine is free to try, it is out of date.

What we left out

Hailuo, Grok Imagine and Higgsfield have all offered some free access at times, but we couldn't confirm their current free allowances, watermark rules or commercial terms from their own pages, and third-party reports disagree. If you rely on one of these, check the plan screen in the app itself.

How to get the most from free tiers

  • Draft cheap, finish once. Use the lowest resolution and shortest length for tests. Flow's 360p Omni drafts cost a fraction of a 720p clip.
  • Start from a still. Image-to-video wastes fewer generations than text-to-video because the look is already fixed. See image to video: which platform for what.
  • Read the commercial terms before client work. A free clip you can't legally use in an ad has cost you time, not saved money.
  • Spread tests across platforms. Daily allowances on two or three platforms add up, and comparing models is worth doing anyway.

Try it

Use one free day on Flow and one on Dreamina with the same prompt, and see which free output you would actually use.

Compare more than the picture: note what each clip cost, whether it carries a watermark and what the terms let you do with it.

Testing across free tiers leaves clips on several sites, each with different expiry and download rules. Dreamdrive, a free Chrome extension, saves each one as you make it with its prompt, model and settings in one library, so you can compare them and keep the prompts that worked.
